As you know, California law requires that the Commissioner ascertain, through the use of a written examination, whether a license applicant is qualified to act in the capacity of a broker or salesperson. An applicant for a real estate license examination must meet the prerequisite standards prior to being scheduled for the qualifying examination. The DRE cannot waive the examination requirement.

The application for a salesperson examination must be submitted to the DRE on the Salesperson Examination Application, or RE 400A, along with the applicable fee for the exam.
